Hi guys! I thought I’d do something a little different this week as I’m feeling a bit physically run down and wanted to write something nice and positive. So, I’ve decided to look back at some of my old posts and talk about which products are my favourites, still use, any changed thoughts and any other posts I’d love for you to read.
I’m going to look back at what I think is one of the best lipsticks of all time, a fab supplement to battle weak nails, lifeless hair and bad skin, a mascara that gives insane volume and more.
See this as the perfect Sunday evening blog-read-athon post. Get yourself a cup of tea, cuddle up under a blanket and lets get reading!

I’m going to start off by talking about a lipstick which is certainly still one of my favourites and in heavy use: the Lord and Berry 20100 Maxi Matte Crayon Lipstick. It’s sadly incredibly lacking in shade options and harder to find than their other lipsticks (links below though), but this is always my go-to.
I have the shade Intimacy and it is the perfect shade for most occasions. It’s probably more suited to the autumn-winter. The reason it’s my first product to look back on though and why I knew this 100% had to feature in this post is because of its use and wear. This lipstick glides on so easily with an instant, bold, matte pigment that is non-drying and wears for hours. You’ll get a little bit of fading with eating and drinking, but it doesn’t disappear.
My main issue with some matte lipsticks is when they fade in the centre and they look terrible, but with this? No problems. Highly recommend.

La Roche-Posay Redermic R
Originally discovered via What’s In My Handbag.
Taking it WAY back with this one and bringing up a product which featured in my second ever post when I hadn’t yet hit my blog writing style flow (if you get what I mean), but the product is still great.
Retinol creams can be pretty expensive, but this is an amazing mid-price-point retinol product which was actually my first step into the retinol world. I still recommend it to people who are wanting to try out retinol for the first time and I still rate it very highly. It’s a fab product which really helps with anti-ageing, but more specifically for me with redness and it’s anti-blemish properties.
Struggle with acne? Please do try this.
Extra note: this blog post was the first blog post ever noticed by a brand and was shared with all of their followers. I remember how amazing this approval felt and it was incredible to see it happen for what was only my second post.

Lush Movis
Purchased.
Speaking of acne, or any other skincare trouble for that matter, here is another top recommended product: Movis by Lush.
This face wash was magic for my perioral dermatitis, but it’s also amazing whenever I have a breakout. Whenever there’s a problem with my skin in general, whether it be over sensitive, dry, broken out etc, out comes Movis.
It’s designed to look like a loaf of bread but it looks, feels and smells more like a very rich, doughy cake. It contains exfoliators which help to refresh and renew the skin leaving it feeling... well, perfect.

Zenmed - Various Products

Zenmed range |
Sticking with the acne thing, this whole range is an amazing option for anyone who is struggling with oily, blemish prone skin. Honestly, it’s hard to fault any of the products from this post and I do recommend them all very highly and to be used in conjunction with one another.
I originally did have a slight issue with the face wash causing a little dryness but after speaking to the company and being told to use a little less I finally came to a perfect amount to use and suffered no dryness afterwards.
Please do check out this post if you suffer from acne prone skin as you could find a fab new range to help!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

This mascara became my holy grail mascara after trying it and it is still my holy grail.
Full, voluminous lashes are only a step away with this bad boy. If you put eyeliner on your waterline and then position the mirror below you to apply the mascara, then apply Too Faced Size Queen Mascara over the top and you will have a fake lash effect instantly.
This is super great for anyone who has sensitive eyes and struggles with false lashes, it’s honestly an amazing combo and I use it all the time. So good.

Misfit Cosmetics Activated Charcoal Teeth Whitening Powder
Gifted by company.
Misfit Cosmetics Activated Charcoal Teeth Whitening Powder |
Looking for sparkly, white teeth? This stuff may be a little messy to use, but trust me when I say you’ll love the results.
This stuff gets rid of all the plaque on your teeth in one brush (as long as you’re keeping care of your teeth beforehand) and makes your teeth and mouth feel SO clean. Keep using and your teeth are left looking sparkling white as well and super clean.
Only downside is needing to clean your sink directly after each use.

Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid
Gifted by company.
Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid |
This is my holy grail lip balm. It’s amazing for exfoliating the lips and removing any dead, dry skin and then moisturising the lips too so that you’re left with soft and happy lips instead.
It contains lemon oil so it has a lovely smell and it also contains a little shimmer so it can be worn like a gloss if you so wish.

Polaar Polar Night Cream

Polaar Polar Night Cream |
We can thank Birchbox for introducing us to this one. The Polaar Polar Night Cream is easily one of the best night creams I’ve ever used. It doesn’t help with oily or blemish prone skin but it also doesn’t aggravate it and it really helps to brighten the skin and reduce redness.
This stuff leaves the skin feeling and looking so glowy, smooth and soft. Downside is that Birchbox is usually out of stock.

This face wash is a great face wash on its own, but it is my favourite makeup remover.
Whilst still wearing makeup, wet the face and massage some of this magic cleanser onto the skin, including eyes, for around 1 minute before wiping off with a face cloth (I prefer makeup remover clothes or a regular microfibre cloth). Follow up with a second cleanse.
Not only does this stuff get rid of all of your makeup, but it tones as well. Amazing product to try out!

Leather and Stench: The Grasse Roots of French Perfume
Sponsored post.
Catherine de Medici, By Anonymous [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons |
I wrote this post a while back about the history of how Grasse, France became synonymous with perfume and it’s connection to leather production. I had a lot of fun researching this and writing it and it’s not often that I get to mix things up on the blog and write a piece like it.
Countless hours went into it, so I wanted it to be my recommended post that isn’t review based. I hope that you find the topic as fascinating as I do as I found that it really helped me to appreciate the production of fragrances and the history of the topic so much more.
If you’re a fragrance fan, I do highly recommend giving it a read here.
And there we have it!
I hope that you guys enjoyed a slightly different type of post this week. I have a very different, but fun, type of post that is coming within the next couple of weeks and then we shall be back to regular reviews. I hope that you enjoy what is to come as well as looking back on some of the highlights of the blog over the last few years. The blog is actually coming up to its 5 year anniversary as well so I guess this felt good to go through.
Thanks to you all for keeping the blog going with your views and love. I appreciate all of you. ❤️
Zoe.
