Avon mark. 3D Plumping Lipsticks review and swatches

Calling all Avon makeup fans! Today I have some exciting news to share with you all. Avon are continuing their makeup rebranding and have now launched their new mark. range!

With the new packaging and new range ethos ("Your face is the canvas: you are the artist. The mark. range has everything you need to create your work of art"), it can be easy to assume that everything in the mark. range is new. It can also be easy to assume that some of your old favourite Avon makeup products have disappeared (such as the Ultra Colour items). Neither are the case here. The majority of the items within this collection are simply rebranded products; your old favourites in new packaging. Some new items appear, but the bulk of the new-ness is coming from new shades added to old lineups, and that is what todays post is going to be showcasing today.

The mark. 3D Plumping Lipstick is the old Avon Ultra Colour 3D Plumping Lipsticks that have simply been re-packaged and the shades have all been given new names also. Since I last spoke about this range, there are five new shades which are what we shall be taking a look at in this post.

These lipstick shades aren't the only mark. goodies that I have to show you, however. If you want to check out a couple more items from the range, make sure that you keep your eyes peeled for my next post which will feature the mark. Be Blushed Stick and mark. Big Colour Eye Pencil. I had originally intended on keeping it as one full post, but it was a bit over-full. Two posts it is then!

I'm not going to spend this post going into too much detail about the 3D Plumping Lipsticks as I have already posted about them before (click above for those swatches). For those of you who don't know anything about them though, they are a range of lipsticks that are designed to not only add bold and creamy colour to the lips, but thanks to their Retinol Colour Complex and Collagen, you can have bigger, fuller looking lips too.

All of the shades that I discussed before are still in the collection, but a lot of them have been renamed. Some of the names are still very obvious, but some sound like totally different shades altogether. Therefore, I'll begin by discussing the shade name changes so that if you have your eyes on a certain shade from the book or online then you can easily find their swatches in my original post.

The new names are as follows (in order that they appear in the original post):

Pucker Up is now Puckered Pink
In the Buff is now Cocoa Kisses
Hot Pants is now Reddy to Go
Uptown Pink remains Uptown Pink
Divine Wine remains Divine Wine
Mad About Mauve is now Mad For Mauve
Stolen Kisses is now Rose Kisses
Bitten is now Plumping Plum
Twig is now Chocolatte
Power Trip is now Rebel Red

And now for the new shades!

As usual, I will begin by making some general comments about the new shades as a whole before I get into the swatches and any specific issues.

In regards to the plumping sensation, I find that they're pretty much equal to the original shades, but the darker, more pigmented shades do tend to tingle more. These darker shades also all seem to have a chemical type of smell, but it doesn't linger and can only be smelt on the stick and not when applied to the lips.

Longevity for all of them again is around 2-3 hours.

A couple have some minor issues with bleeding into fine lines around the lips and one or two also settle into creases, but I'll mention those as we go through the swatches.

Please note that the lighting in a couple of these swatches is slightly different. This is because the photos had to be taken on different days at different times of the day due to them arriving at different times (weeks apart). I didn't want to edit them as even though the lighting looks different shot to shot, I still feel that they give a true representation of colour and I didn't want to lose that by editing them.

Berry Cute

Berry Cute is a stunning, dark pinky-purple shade. It settles a little into creases but not as noticeable unless you look closely.

Cantaloupe

This is the interesting shade of the collection for me. The bulk from the new shades and the original shades are primarily pink and purple. This shade is very much orange. You could say coral, but it's this shade leans more towards orange rather than pink like the bulk of corals you will find on the market. I think this is easily one of the best shades of the collection and is my favourite new shade from the ones featured in this post today for all aspects; shade, application and finish.

Roasted Red

The name of Roasted Red throws me off as it is more of a dark plum shade. It's a bit patchy, but it is very autumn/winter. It can bleed a little, so I would definitely recommend liner.

Truffle

Truffle is like a brown-plum shade. It applies somewhat patchy, and just like Roasted Red I would say that it also needs liner to prevent bleeding.

Pink Pop

Pink Pop is a very bright pink and in some ways similar to Puckered Pink from the original line up. It applies slightly patchy and will show up every dry patch, so exfoliating and/or a lip primer are recommended.

And there we have it! The five new mark. 3D Plumping Lipstick shades.

Overall I think that they are great new additions to the shade range, particularly Cantaloupe. It would have been nice to have some more variations as some are somewhat similar to previous shades, such as Pink Pop and Puckered Pink, and Berry Cute being a slightly darker Plumping Plum.

I'd like to see a nice orange-red added to the collection. We have a blue-red, but for those who prefer a bright, orange-red there is still a gap.

Don't forget, if you want to see more of the mark. range, check back in a few days to see the next post! I'll also explain what other products have been rebranded under the mark. name.

You can purchase the new mark. 3D Plumping Lipsticks alongside the original shades and the whole new mark. range from my online Avon store (UK only, courier delivery only).

What are your thoughts on the new shades? Which is your favourite?
