Do you ever have those days where your skin is just looking pretty tired and unhappy? Those kind of days where you wish that you had some sort of real life photoshop power all over your face? Well yeah, there's products that you can buy for those days (hoorah!), and one of those magic powder products is this nifty one by Soap and Glory.
Soap and Glory’s Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder is a lightweight, translucent, imperfection blurring powder that is designed to perfect your face. It contains “vision-boggling Superblur technology” and Camouflawge 3D to leave the skin looking and feeling silky smooth and retouched.
It comes packaged in a black compact that does include a mirror, but no applicator (so if you don’t have one already, you will need to purchase one).
Application:
Using an applicator of your choice, apply a small amount of powder anywhere needed.
Results:
Kick Ass provides really good coverage and works well at mattifying the skin, but because of this I think that you have to be very careful when applying it. It can be very easy to over-apply and I find that it shows up in pores very easily when this happens which is totally not a good look.
Even though Kick Ass is advertised as translucent, I find that it does have a yellow tint to it when on the skin. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I think that it makes it a great powder for people with yellow undertones or for those who are looking for something to counteract redness. I personally have yellow undertones to my skin and I find that some powders can look very pale or pink on my skin which isn’t very nice. Kick Ass looks more natural on me than most others.
The longevity is okay, but this is the type of powder that does need a top up throughout the day, but as I have said, try not to over-apply!
The main thing that I can imagine being off-putting for some people is the lack of applicator. Whilst I personally tend to not use the provided sponge or brush, I know that there are people out there who do. It also means that there isn't a small brush that tucks away inside the product, so a brush will need to be carried around separately if you're on the go.
Overall, this is a pretty good powder, but probably more so for those of us with yellow undertones or who want to counter redness on the skin. It does have some "retouching" abilities as long as you are light-handed with your application, but if you apply too much then you may look very caked up instead.
You can purchase Soap and Glory's Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder for £12/7.5g from Boots.
